Jozy the Noze,
a Jack Russell Rat Terrier mix, is full of energy and drive to work! In addition to work, she undergoes training twice a day, 365 days a year, receiving positive reinforcement for detecting the scent of live bed bugs.
This daily training ensures her accuracy.
At 3 years old, Jozy was rescued from a shelter and trained in a rigorous bed bug scent-detection program at J & K Canine Academy, Inc. She and her handler are certified by the National Entomology Scent Detection Canine Association (NESDCA). NESDCA was formed by pest control professionals to ensure that the highest standards for entomology scent detection canines are upheld.
The other half of the team
Jersey Dog Seeks Bedbugs LLC, is owned and operated by Marcia Brice. Her training as a handler also took place at J & K Canine Academy and included scent-detection-dog handling, search patterns, environmental management, scent-discrimination recognition, and proper deployment of the dog.
